Hong Kong youth players competing in the online ASTAR Scrabble Challenge International 2021

2 Hong Kong youth players are competing in the ASTAR Scrabble Challenge International (ASCI) 2021 from 22 to 23 May 2021. The ASCI this year will be held online on Woogles.io.

Thomson LAW Long Yin and Julian WONG Tsz Yu will be playing in the Under 18 Category, which consists of 10 games. It is the fourth time for Thomson to play in the ASCI. He was awarded the 1st runner-up in the Under-15 Category of ASCI in 2019 and 2018. For Julian, it is his third time joining this international tournament. He was awarded 6th runner-up in the Under-15 Category of ASCI 2019.

ASCI is an annual event hosted by the University of Malaya since 2006 (except for 2020, in which the ASCI was unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic). ASCI 2021 has been provisionally approved for WESPA Rating. It is the first online tournament in the world being provisionally approved for WESPA Rating.

Despite the pandemic, there are many Scrabble tournaments online. We encourage Scrabble players from all ages and levels to continue participating in international Scrabble tournaments online to widen their horizons and meet new friends worldwide. We wish Thomson and Julian all the best in their upcoming games!
