Hong Kong Scrabble players Ella Wong Sze Lang, Guo Chin Wang, Joseph Leung Chun Hei, Kobe Leong Wai Chun, and Euclid Hui achieved outstanding results in the Astar Scrabble Challenge International (ASCI) 2024.
Ella Wong Sze Lang achieved the 2nd runner-up in the U15 category among 64 players. She won 10 out of 13 games with a cumulative spread of +783. This marked her first participation in the ASCI, following her previous participation in the WESPA Youth Cup 2023. Ella is currently studying in Renaissance College.
Guo Chin Wang achieved 3rd runner-up in the U15 category. He won 9.5 out of 13 games with a cumulative spread of +1001. This marked his second participation in an international tournament, having previously participated in the WESPA Youth Cup 2023 as a member of the Hong Kong Youth Scrabble Team 2023. He is currently studying in SKH Tsang Shiu Tim Secondary School.
Joseph Leung Chun Hei was awarded 6th place in the U15 category. He won 9 out of 13 games with a cumulative spread of +688. This was Joseph’s second time participating in the ASCI, building on his previous experience where he placed 12th in the U15 category. He’s also a member of the Hong Kong Youth Scrabble Team in 2023, and is currently studying in Methodist College.
Kobe Leong Wai Chun was awarded 5th place in the U18 category among 45 players. He won 10 out of 15 games with a cumulative spread of +852. This is his first participation in the ASCI and second time in an international Tournament, having previously taken part in the WESPA Youth Cup 2023. Kobe is currently studying in Methodist College.
Euclid Hui achieved 8th place in the Open Category amongst 40 players. While he had participated in the ASCI before, this marked his first time finishing in the top 10. Euclid won 10 out of 17 games with a cumulative spread of +655. With his participation in various international tournaments, including the WESPA Championship 2023 in Las Vegas, Euclid has established himself as an experienced Scrabble player.
Apart from the prize winners, other Hong Kong players also completed this tournament with promising results.
