Hong Kong Scrabble Players Association (HKSPA) and Japan Scrabble Players Association (JASPA) will be co-organising the East Asian Scrabble Championship again in 2020.
The East Asian Scrabble Championship 2020 will be held in Kobe, Japan on 21 to 22 March 2020 (Saturday and Sunday).
The tournament will follow the WESPA Rules Version 4 and CSW19 dictionary. Details of the tournament will be announced in due course. The organiser will apply for HKSPA and WESPA Ratings in a later stage.
Qualifying for Hong Kong
Phase 1 Qualification
To qualify for Team Hong Kong for the East Asian Scrabble Championship 2020, one must:
- Be an HKSPA member
- Have an HKSPA ranking (at least 50 rated games played)
- Have Hong Kong representation status under the Hong Kong Player Statuses Regulation
- The peak rating, excluding provisional ratings, from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2019 will be used to determine the priority to enter HK team. The latest peak rating for the period is available here.
Players will be selected according to the peak ratings. Players who are interested and eligible may express their interest no later than 17 January 2020 by sending an email to the Association’s email (
[email protected]), after which the Association will announce the names of players selected.
