Tournament Report: November Scrabble Challenge

On 20 November 2016, HKSPA organised the November Scrabble Challenge in the City University of Hong Kong. 30 players participated in the tournament and they are divided into 4 divisions according to their HKSPA ratings.

Round-robin format was adopted for 7 rounds. As there were only 6 players in Division D, after 5 rounds of round-robin games, the last 2 rounds of Division D adopted Chew Pairing.

Calvin Ma, who is a member of the Hong Kong Youth Scrabble Team 2015 and 2016, triumphed in Division A of the November Scrabble Challenge. He won all the games in Division A with a total spread of +452.


Prize winners of Division A

Douglas Tsang is the winner of Division B. He is going to participate in the Causeway Scrabble Challenge in Malaysia at the end of this month. He won 5 games and got a tie out of 7 games, including some wins over former Hong Kong Youth Scrabble Team players, Brian Po, Boris Chung and Wynter Hau.

Thomson Law Long Yin from Methodist School and Lau Wai Keung from CCC Mong Man Wai College finished 1st in Division C and D respectively.
