HKSPA invites all local and overseas players to an amazing Scrabble experience

Hong Kong Scrabble Players Association is organising the 2nd Hong Kong Scrabble Challenge, an open Scrabble tournament for all local and overseas players. This event has been approved for WESPA rating.

Last year, the Challenge attracted 34 players from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and the United States to play in a one-day 8-round tournament. Liew Kian Boon from Singapore got the Champion of the first-ever Hong Kong Scrabble Challenge.

This year, the Challenge was extended to two one-day tournaments. On 9 July (Saturday), the Main Event of the Challenge, for all local and overseas players, will be held. Players will play 8 games to compete for the Champion of Hong Kong Scrabble Challenge. There would be an invitational extra event on 10 July (Sunday), for players invited by HKSPA and all overseas players.

All participants will receive a certificate of participation upon completing the tournaments to recognise their efforts.

As there are doubts over the legality of Scrabble tournaments with prize money in Hong Kong, for the safety of our players, there will only be trophies and medals for our winners.

All overseas players can enter the Challenge for free.

Application

Players can now apply online at https://goo.gl/vziSOr on or before 1 July 2016. A first-come-first-served basis will be adopted in the application with priority given to overseas players.

Qualifying criteria for the Extra event on 10 July

To encourage exchange between local and overseas players, players representing countries other than Hong Kong have priority over Hong Kong players in qualification.
