Time: 9:00am-5:00pm
Venue: Ho Lap College School Hall (1^st Floor)

Registration

The games are classified into three categories, junior category, senior category and open category.
Junior category is open to primary school students and S1 – S3 secondary school students, senior category is open to any primary and secondary students while open category is open to alumni of secondary schools and teachers.

For junior category and senior category, a team of 3-10 players from the same school is eligible to register as a school team, competing for school prizes as well as individual titles.
For open category, alumni of secondary schools and teachers (max. 5) from the same school are eligible to register as individuals, competing for individual titles.

Deadline of registration: 18-5-2018 (Fri)

Format of Play

1. Swiss draw; 5 games.
2. 25 minutes per player, 5 points unsubstantiated challenge penalty.
3. Players from the same school may face each other from the fourth round
4. Unless otherwise specified, refer to WESPA rules version 3.
5. Wordlist of reference: Collins Scrabble Words 2015
6. Tournament is organized under the support of Hong Kong Scrabble Players Association and will be HKSPA-Rated.

After each round, the ranking of individuals would be decided by the following criteria, with decreasing priority:

1. No. of wins
2. Spread

The ranking of school teams is determined by School Points; a lower School Point indicates a better performance.

Calculation of School Point:
School Points of the junior category and senior category = (Top-ranked player + 1) x (Second-ranked player + 1) x (Third-ranked player + 1). For example, school points = (3+1)x(4+1)x(14+1)=300, where 3,4,14 are the ranks of the top-ranking players from a school team.

Note that only the three top-ranked players from a school would contribute to the School Points of junior category and senior category.

Note: In case of a tie, the players’ individual standing will serve as a tie-breaker if they are in the same category. If not, the younger player will have the tie-breaker.
